Prayers for Cecilia: Fighting Leukemia
Donation protected
Meet Cecilia! With her bright blue eyes, adorable dimples and golden blond hair, Cecilia Brashier is full of sweetness, serenity, and spunk! Born in June 2016, she was met with love by her mother (Cassandra), father (Mike), and big sister and brother. A gift and blessing to so many, we have delighted in watching her grow into an adorable, angelic and insightful toddler.
This year was going to be extra special for Cecilia: She would be turning three and would join her siblings at school in the fall. Before then, her summer to-do list was packed: See the animals at the zoo, visit the museum, splash at the water park, and swim in "Grandpa" Dave's pool. Life doesn’t get any better!
All of this changed on June 11th.
Two months earlier, Cecelia had started acting differently. She was lethargic and generally not feeling well. She was treated for an ear infection and then a sore throat but she didn’t bounce back as expected. After additional testing, her family received the devastating diagnosis of Leukemia, a disease they knew little about — and Cecelia was rushed to the ER at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital.
For the next three years, Cecilia will undergo treatment. The first year is the most intense as she will be routinely in and out of the hospital. The good news is that Cecilia is a trooper. She is strong, resilient and spirited. However, cancer is too much for any person — let alone a little girl — to fight alone. The family has asked for your prayers during this difficult time. As they are surrounded by so many wonderful family members and friends, it’s heart-warming — though not surprising — that so many of you have responded. THANK YOU. With God, all things are possible.
In addition, many of you have asked other ways you can help support their family — a family that has actively helped others in need by generously giving of their time, resources and prayers. Since the financial strain they are about to experience will be substantial, as friends of the Brashiers we are humbly asking for something they would not — financial support.
Even with insurance, out-of-pocket expenses are far beyond the annual deductibles and co-pays will amount to thousands of dollars. In addition, Mike and Cassandra will require extended time away from work to care for Cecilia as she undergoes treatment.
God has given us the opportunity to be instruments of His generosity to them. Every donation — regardless of size — will help make a difference. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
