Prayers for Dr. Richard Koonce
Donation protected
Hello,
I am a high school counselor at Sandusky High School and Dr. Richard Koonce is one of my colleagues and friends. Dr. Koonce works with our College Credit Plus students and also coaches our Lady Streaks basketball team.
Richard has remained very private over the past two years about the plight of his health. It has taken time to get the proper care and receive the correct diagnosis. He has remained a constant at work all while dealing with doctor appointments and sickness. He will be undergoing liver transplant surgery on February 14th at The Cleveland Clinic.
Richard’s donor is Steve Robinson, a former roommate at Norfolk State University. Richard hadn't seen him in over 20 years, although he remained in touch through Facebook, texts, and occasional phone calls. Steve found out about Richard's need for a new liver after visiting Sandusky while traveling with his family. (Richard introduced Steve to his wife Natalie while attending NSU.) Steve felt moved to help him all these years later and told Richard he decided to find out whether he had a matching blood type and could help. Steve has undergone extensive testing, which required travel to Cleveland, as he lives out of state. God put it on Steve’s heart to be tested, and he was a match! The surgery date of February 14th, Valentine's Day, is a testament to the true power of Love.
Please consider donating to help with the costs both families have endured over the past years, and will continue to face with the upcoming procedures and follow- up appointments.
Please also lift both Richard and Steve in prayer as they undergo their surgeries, healing, and recovery.
Thank you!
