Prayers for Jacob & Help for Juan and Cindy

For the past two weeks, one of the younger members of our family, Jacob Reyes González, has been fighting for his life at Rush hospital.

His journey has been difficult and emotionally devastating with some good days followed by setbacks. Last night, as many of us were making dinner, having family game night, or maybe even reading bedtime stories to our own little ones, Jacob's lung collapsed.

He is now in critical condition and undergoing a serious treatment (called ECMO) which is meant to help stabilize him and help get oxygen to his lungs. His parents, Juan and Cindy, are constantly at his side and praying for a miracle.

As you might imagine, the mounting medical bills, the cost of critical care, and the uncertainty of the days ahead are putting an additional burden on Juan and Cindy. There is no more agonizing pain than to see your child, your baby, in the fight of his life... but here is where we can step in.

By donating what you can, we can alleviate some of the worry Juan and Cindy are experiencing. By postponing date night, foregoing the Starbucks or maybe cooking instead of eating out, you can immediately impact the lives of this hurting family. Imagine your helping hands reaching out to take up just a bit of that enormous weight off their shoulders. What a blessing that would be!

Most of us have children... some are (thankfully!) grown and letting us old fogies live in peace.

Some are still small and look to us for all their needs. They trust us to tie their shoes. They look to us to kiss their boo-boos and make it all better. They're playing soccer. Catching footballs. Putting on dance shows in the living room and singing at the top of their lungs.

Or fighting. They might be driving you absolutely crazy with their fighting..

But they're not fighting to live. They are, thankfully, at home and *healthy* living their best lives.

We pray that Jacob gets better soon to do all the things a 4-year old should be doing. Like going to school and playing outside. Please say a prayer that Jacob may heal quickly and get back to being a healthy little boy.

And if you happen to give a little peace of mind to Cindy and Juan, well that too is a prayer and a blessing in kind.
