Please help Malik. Road to Recovery

Sunday, April 16th is a day that changed our family's lives forever.

Just like any regular Sunday, our family was preparing to celebrate together for a graduation, when the un-thinkable happened.

Malik is 12.

He's a good kid.

A good big brother to his 2 younger twin sisters.

A good little brother.

A good student, friend, cousin, son.

Malik was riding his bike at his grandparent's home when he was struck by a truck- a truck driving way too fast in a residential neighborhood- by an uninsured driver who was distracted and failed to see Malik.

Malik didn't deserve this.

The list of Malik's injuries is long. Shockingly long.

•Traumatic pneumothorax (small part of his lung collapsed on each side)

•Bilateral pulmonary contusion (bruises on his lungs)

•Closed fracture of multiple ribs of right side (broken ribs on the right, ribs 7, 8, 9, and 10)

•Closed fracture of distal end of right femur (broken right upper leg)

•Salter-Harris type IV physeal fracture of distal end of left femur (broken left upper leg)

•Lipohemarthrosis (broken left leg leaked blood and fat into the knee joint)

•Closed fracture of medial malleolus of right tibia (broken right ankle)

•Fracture of condylar process of mandible (broken jaw)

•Maxillary fracture (broken upper jaw)

•Displacement of tooth, teeth (missing teeth)

•Ligamentous injury of cervical spine (stretched out/injured tissue around the neck bones)

•Posterior flexion injury of S1-S2 (lower back injury)

•Distraction injury of occipital-C1 and C1-C2 (neck injury)

•Intramedullary mass at C7, possible pilocytic astrocytoma (mass in the low neck, not an injury but found on the imaging for the injuries

He has a very long road ahead of him.

He will need help. Extensive help. New teeth, a wheelchair, crutches, the list goes on.

His family will need help.

I'm raising money to ease some of the financial burden this will cause the family.

Medical bills and supplies that will be needed to care for Malik.
