Prayers for Reagan Martin
Donation protected
On July 12, 2020, Reagan Martin had a horrible accident while enjoying a weekend with friends at the river. Reagan dove in the water, hitting her head on the bottom. Reagan was rushed to a hospital and then flown to a trauma center in Greenville, NC where she had to wait for a COVID test before she could go to surgery. Following five hours of surgery came the news that Reagan had a broken vertebrae and the broken bone was pressing on the spinal cord. Reagan has been in ICU since where she battles each and every day to overcome respiratory issues which have resulted in additional surgeries/procedures to help her breathe. As a result of the spinal cord injury, Reagan has no feeling from her chest down.
Aside from the continued prayers that are always needed and welcomed, the family is hoping to get Reagan to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, a national leader in spinal cord care and research, where she can begin physical therapy. However, the insurance company will not pay for medical transport to and from Shepherd Center. Reagan's breathing has improved, and there is a chance she could be accepted to Shepherd Center within the next week. Mom has to be packed and ready at a moment's notice for the two of them to take a medical flight to Atlanta.
Prior to the accident, Reagan was preparing for her sophomore year of college where she was on the swim team at Towson University in Towson, MD. She has an older sister that is a college swimmer and a younger sister who is a high school swimmer, so this is extremely difficult on the whole family. No parent should have to worry about how to pay for the care of their child during this time.
Please consider making a donation to help Reagan get to and from Shepherd Center where she and her family can help Reagan get the care and rehabilitation needed to figure out Reagan's new normal. All donations will go directly towards Reagan's medical expenses. If you are reading this and are unable to assist financially, please include Reagan and her father Wade, mother Bambi, and sisters Cara and Lillie on your prayer list!
Thank you for your time and generosity! God Bless!
