Prayers & Support for Victoria
As you may know, our beloved Tori has recently been diagnosed with stage IV metastatic low grade serous carcinoma of tubo-ovarian origin. Her prognosis is not fully realized, but her medical team is working diligently to treat her as aggressively as possible. She will have an extremely long road ahead, firstly through her initial chemotherapy treatments and hopefully after shrinkage of her tumor, major surgery sandwiched with more chemo. Tori’s oncologists have informed her that surgery is far too dangerous without shrinking her tumor first, a tumor that is categorically resistant to chemotherapy. It is for this reason that Tori’s oncologists are treating her palliatively, with the assumption she will be living with cancer for the rest of her life. Ideally, once the abdominal cancers are greatly reduced, Tori will immediately be taking preventative surgical measures against breast cancer.
If you know Tori you know the struggles she has had medically throughout her life. Through trial and error she was able to determine a successful regimen in treating her chronic illnesses, particularly with a biopsychosocial integrative approach. Her wellness journey has been long and comprehensive, and she is in many ways grateful for how it has prepared her for this new medical hurdle. Tori hopes to continue to utilize integrative therapies, not only to manage the symptoms of her tumor and side effects of chemo, but also to manage her chronic illness and mental health. These integrative therapies include acupuncture, reformer pilates, and myofascial release therapy.
It is highly likely over the course of this year that Tori will need to utilize an unpaid benefit from her employer. We would like to ensure that her financial stresses are alleviated and allow her to continue using the integrative therapies that help her so greatly.
