Nerve Repair Surgery for Kayla

My niece Kayla was hit by a car on Monday afternoon, June 8, 2015.  Later that night she was planning on babysitting some neighborhood kids, and in preparation for that, decided to go to the dollar store with her brother Todd to purchase gifts for the kids.  There was a phone pole that blocked her vision to the oncoming car and she stepped out into the road.  She was struck by the car.  The impact spun her around twice and her head hit and shattered the passenger side window.  She has suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. Her brain has several micro-bleeds. Her face endured several fractures including her forehead, nose, and both sides of her jaw.  A fracture behind her ear has concerned doctors that it may have impacted her hearing.

Kayla, at 14, has just entered her glorious teenage years.  She will be starting her freshman year of high school in the fall.  Kayla has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known.  I will never forget when she was 3 or 4, I was struggling with money and she brought me some change she had in her adorable baby purse, and said to me "will this help"?  I remember looking into the sweet eyes of this curly-haired little girl and being so overwhelmed with love and admiration for her.  Kayla is a child of God, loves to read, cook, and play volleyball.  We want nothing more than for her to enjoy all of those activities again.
