Hot Springs Accident Medical Fund

On August 20th, 2015, Paden and Katie McCormick and their 2 dogs, Dexter and Dahlia, were hiking in the Panther Creek Hot Springs area (aka Big Creek Hot Spring), near the town of Salmon, Idaho. Residing in Boise and working while going to school, my cousin and his newly-wed wife were enjoying a reprieve from life and enjoying the country-side on a much needed family vacation. The Goal was to hit as many hot springs in the area, as it is a highly geothermic spot on the continent, being so close to Yellowstone National Park, it was a goal that was easily achievable.

Sadly, the goal they had set out to achieve was cut short when both dogs saw one of the hot springs and that’s when things turned for the worse. My cousin Paden who has always been an animal lover didn't think twice as soon as he heard the yelps and barks of the dogs as they had just dove into 190+ degree water. He emerged with Dexter, while Dahlia slipped back in and was lost. Sadder yet, the next day proved to be fatal for Dexter as he passed on Friday night.

Paden, through his heroics in trying to save his pets, was burned on over 50% of his body with 2nd and 3rd degree burns, the latter being the most pertinent. He had to walk himself out of the hot springs area to the nearest camp where they were finally able to radio for an airlift out and to Missoula, MT. From Missoula, he was airlifted to Harborview medical Center in Seattle, WA and has been there since Thursday in the late evening.

We are asking for prayers, and most importantly assistance in his medical bills. because of the time he will need to stay at Harborview (They are estimating 40+ days) the combined total of all medical expenses will meet and probably exceed close to $150,000.00.

He does not have health insurance. Every single cost will be coming from his own pocket. He is doing his best to better himself and his family by going back to school to attain his degree.

Please, any bit helps. Paden has a heart of gold, would bend over backwards to help anyone, and as you can see, he would risk his life to save another.

Thank you!
