On June 1st my granddaughter, Patience Costar began to feel sick. The next day the fever started and she tested positive for Covid she kept getting worse.
They rushed her to St. Joes Children's Hospital and were admitted and
quarantined right away. At the hospital, she tested negative for Covid but
positive for Flu#3 and coronavirus. Her chest x-ray showed that her left lung
was diminished and she had pneumonia. Her CBC showed a staph
infection in her blood and after 4 days of heavy antibiotics, she still had sepsis.
They did an ultrasound of her heart and found that there was a significant
infection in her mitral valve.
She was then moved to the cardiac ICU and underwent emergency open-heart surgery. Luckily they were able to repair her own valve. After several Cat scans, they found the infection has spread to her kidneys, spleen, hip joints, legs and chest tissues.
Although she is off her ventilator and beginning to show real signs of
improvement, she'll still be in the hospital a minimum of 4-6 weeks
to fully recover. I've set up this Go Fund Me along with some other family
members and friends to help my son Billy and his wife Noelle with the medical expenses as well as the ongoing expenses of being at the hospital round the clock, their loss of wages
throughout this time and all the little things that will make life easier while living out of the ICU.
We are very grateful for all the prayers and ask that you keep them going.
Thank you for your donations and for surrounding them with your love and
support during this challenging time.
