Amy Alverson Battle Against Cancer

Amy Alverson received devastating news this past week. After successfully overcoming breast cancer about five years ago, the cancer has metastasized and returned in her abdomen as advanced stage 4 cancer. She has a large tumor that has spread to her liver, hip bones, stomach, and spine. The oncologist said the results from the biopsy show it is breast cancer, and it is HR+. He stated that this type of cancer is usually very responsive to treatment. He said with treatment, the tumor should shrink down significantly, extend her life significantly, as well as give her a better quality of life. She has not been able to work for the past year and has went to numerous doctors to try to figure out why she has been in so much pain and has been so weak. She was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia, and was being treated for those symptoms as the cancer continued to grow undetected in her body. Because of the misdiagnosis she was denied disability assistance and Medicaid when she applied. She has spent the last 5 days in the hospital without insurance, and as of right now she is going to have to pay for her medications and treatment out of pocket unless she can get some kind of financial assistance through the cancer center or other means. If she does not have treatment, the oncologist said she could only have weeks to live. She desperately needs all the help she can get to at least start the treatment and medication out of pocket while waiting for approval, and to purchase items she needs at home to make her more comfortable during all that she faces ahead.
Anyone who knows Amy knows that she is a true angel on Earth. She just radiates love and happiness and will brighten anyone’s day just by being around her. She is the most kind hearted, loving, cheerful, and compassionate person you will ever be around. She will do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat.
