Our fundraising goal is based on the potential cost of therapies and services in addition to hospital bills. We were informed from our recent discussions with the facility and the insurance company that the costs will be mostly out-of-pocket and for him to get what he needs will be 137,500K per year. Hopefully we can work with the insurance company and these donations can help Grayson get services for longer.

Grayson's Story:

On October 13, 2024, our world changed forever. Our sweet, vibrant 8-year-old son, Grayson, suffered a sudden seizure that led to the discovery of a 4cm tumor in the posterior fossa of his brain—a diagnosis no parent should ever have to hear. The tumor was blocking the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid, causing hydrocephalus—a buildup of pressure inside his skull that was rapidly putting his brain under immense, life-threatening strain. Without immediate intervention, the condition would have been fatal.

He was airlifted to a Children’s Hospital, where neurosurgeons performed an 8-hour emergency brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. The operation saved his life—but his battle was only beginning. In the days following surgery, Grayson suffered from intense swelling of the brain, and uncontrolled hemorrhage, which eventually led to a devastating stroke near his brainstem, leaving doctors deeply concerned about whether he would ever wake up. He required continuous interventions and multiple blood transfusions to stop the bleeding. His temporary spinal fluid drain failed, and he required two additional brain surgeries as well as a tracheostomy and g-tube surgery to have a chance at living. His future was uncertain.

Against incredible odds, Grayson fought his way back. He survived—but not without unimaginable consequences. For nearly 40 days, he remained in a medically induced coma. When doctors finally began removing his sedatives, the reality of his condition became painfully clear—he could not move, could not speak, could not eat, could not see, and could not breathe without a ventilator. Doctors were uncertain whether he would do any of these things ever again. He remained in a disordered of conscious state for weeks following and is still moving through the stages of consciousness.

Through the incredible force of love, prayer and the support of the community around us, we started to see signs of Grayson’s recovery. Grayson is now in intensive neuro rehabilitation at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago (far from home and family and friends), working daily to regain his strength and independence. He has defied expectations—learning to walk with assistance, speak in full sentences, eat regular food, and even laugh and joke again.

However, it seems that in the aftermath of his brain surgery and stroke, swelling and trauma compressed his optic nerve. Combined with damage to his occipital lobe during one of the surgeries, his brain’s ability to process vision has been significantly impaired and he is currently unable to see. We don’t know if he will ever see again. Grayson is learning to do everything again, in the dark.

Grayson is suffering from post operative posterior fossa syndrome, post operative cortical visual impairment, and a post operative stroke to the brain stem. In addition he is still fighting the remaining tumor and cyst in his 4th ventricle. He is a walking miracle in many ways. Please help support Grayson, along with his parents, Kristin and Jake.

In addition to his blindness, his brain continues to heal from its injury leaving him disoriented, confused, frustrated, and scared in a world he can no longer see. His memory is fractured, and he experiences post-traumatic amnesia. Some days, he asks if he is in heaven.

Who Grayson is:
Grayson loves the outdoors, his goal in life was to see all the National Parks. He is/was an avid and natural swimmer, he learned to swim when he was 3 and it was almost immediate, he spent his summers in the pool and in the ocean. The beach is his favorite place and his favorite thing to do was dig big holes. He had/has a photographic memory and was able to read at an adult level. If given the opportunity he would play all day and never run out of creative or imaginative ways to use the most mundane of objects. It is painful to write this as I think about it. He hadn't been to Disney World yet, we had planned to take him this past November, he keeps asking if we can take him when he can see again. He keeps asking to do a lot of things when he can see again. It is all we pray for, that and for his tumor and cyst to continue to shrink.

We are praying for a miracle, both big ones and small ones on a daily basis.

Grayson’s journey is long, and the ongoing financial burden is staggering. He requires specialized rehabilitation, adaptive therapies, and long-term care to give him the best possible future. We are humbly asking for your support in whatever way you can:

How You Can Help:

✔️ Donate – No amount is too small. Every contribution helps provide Grayson with the care he needs.

✔️ Pray – Please pray for Grayson’s healing, especially that his sight may be restored. We have seen firsthand how prayer can change outcomes, and we beg you to pray fervently for the return of his vision.

✔️ Share – Spread his story to reach others who can help.

We lost 3 months of income due to unpaid family leave and have medical bills starting to pile up. Changes will have to be made to our home, and etc.

We have not even started to look into what type of lifestyle accommodations or academic accommodations we will need with regards to his eyesight as we do not know what his eyes will decide to do (YET! We continue to pray for continued miracles big and small).

Due to the timing of Grayson's situation, we have some other complicated financial pieces we are in the process of working out based on location of medical availability and recommendations. Kristin, Jake, and Grayson are native New Yorkers (where their family still resides) but have been in TX for the last couple years.

Grayson is a warrior, but he cannot fight this battle alone. Please stand with us, pray with us, and help us give Grayson the chance to reclaim his life.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, support, and prayers.
