There are so many that are reaching it and showing support for our baby. We appreciate all of you. This last week has been so insane and everything has been happening so quickly. Last Tuesday Sami was picked up early from school because she had a horribly intense headache and kept throwing up every half hour or so. My parents took her to med express and they said it was just the stomach virus going around. They gave her medicine for the throwing up and she came home. But the throwing up continued. Although she couldn't eat anything, her vile turned brown. She was taken to Vineland hospital. Once at the hospital, the throwing up stopped. But she then had a seizure. They took her for an emergency CAT scan. They saw a mass in the images. She was rushed to DuPont hospital in Delaware. Wednesday at 3 in the morning. Another test was done and the doctors said it was either a tumor or an aneurysm. Another test was done and it was a tumor that they saw. There was also a lot of flui! d around her brain. A draining tube was put in to drain the spinal fluid and decrease the pressure on her brain. She was sent into surgery Thursday morning to remove the tumor. Thank God, the whole tumor was removed. A day after surgery or so, the breathing tube was removed and sent to test if it was benign or cancerous. Although the doctors said she may be mute for up to a month after surgery, Sami began saying small things such as yes, no, I'm going to be ok, God is Good, and I love you. They tried to clamp the draining tube to see if since the tumor was removed, her body would begin properly draining again. The pressure again went up and she threw up twice. The clamping and unclamping has made her very tired and weak. And therefore the last few days she has not been able to speak or open her eyes. Monday they tried again to clamp her tube and then Tuesday and today she was sent for another test to see how her body was draining. The buildup of fluid was starting again and!
so tomorrow she will betaken for surgery to have something permanent put in to redirect the fluid. She is going to be needing Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and then rehab. The results also came in today about the tumor. It was cancerous... Although the tumor was removed, she will need treatments to be sure that it does not come back. In a couple of weeks Sami is going to be sent to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to begin Chemotherapy and Radiation Monday through Friday for the following 6 weeks after she gets there. She will be able to come home in mid march. For the next year, Sami is going to need treatment twice a week. But God is continuing to watch over her as he has been doing. Without Him, none of this would be possible. He has sent her to the best hospital possible under the best care possible. Our Sami will be ok and she will come out of this stronger than ever. Thank you everyone for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers during this hard time.
