Support for Andrew & Family
Donation protected
Family, friends and strangers around the country and literally around the globe have had my sweet nephew, Andrew, on their minds since last week. My family is so very appreciative of all of the support and prayers for Andrew and everyone that loves him dearly.
Andrew Hume is 11 years old and a Type 1 Diabetic. Last weekend (Saturday, 2/6/16), he picked up a stomach bug. The associated dehydration very quickly resulted in ketoacidosis. Shortly after, he suffered a series of strokes resulting in swelling of his brain, severe brain damage and a large blood clot adjacent to his brain stem (which is also damaged).
To date, Andrew remains in a coma at Fairfax Inova Hospital in Fairfax, VA. We have all been praying hard for a miracle. The reality is that his ongoing care will continue for a very, very long time and at a great expense to my parents. This fund has been set up to aid with those expenses and to give a little bit of financial comfort that will enable us to better focus our attention on Andrew's care.
More details and updates on Andrew can be found here:

I'm also hoping to make a donation to the American Diabeties Association and promote awareness of the signs of ketoacidosis.
Andrew and his sisters, Ella and Sadie.

Andrew and his dad, Richard.

Andrew and his mom, Cassi.

Collage I made of us last year on his tenth birthday.
