Praying for Jakob
Donation protected
For those who do not know, Jakob--our brother, was involved in a car accident with a semi on Friday around 2 PM. He is currently in the ICU at Huntsville Hospital and has a tibia-fibula fracture, a broken femur, and a broken jaw on both sides. He has experienced some puzzling neurological symptoms yesterday, but has remained stable on scans and intra-cranial pressure. Today, he has developed adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). We are concerned with this given the impact on lungs and tissue / brain oxygenation. The trauma doctor has said his lungs are a mess and that he is uncertain if it is related specifically to all of the trauma or related to Jakob's prior COVID diagnosis (he had no symptoms for two weeks and did quarantine, but this trauma may have precipitated things). They are preparing to turn him over into a prone position and have him on high-powered ventilators and nitric oxide--they are pulling out all of the stops it seems. Specific prayers at this time are for the ARDS to improve--reduced lung inflammation and ability to come off the ventilator, and of course for them to be able to perform necessary surgeries. We also ask for prayers for complete healing and no significant long-term deficits. At this point, the first 72 hours are critical, so we are about 24 hours away from that. We are hopeful and trying to stay positive. We all have seen the impact that God has in our lives and the many miracles he has performed. Please feel free to share this with any prayer warriors you know and invite others who I may have missed to this group. Please also pray for our parents. Momma has been the only one to see him due to COVID and they will not allow her in the room much, but she is fighting for this to change. Thanks everyone.
