Praying for Sweet Zoey

For anyone who doesn’t know my sisters family dog Zoey was hit by a hit and run car this Tuesday.  

Immediately, they took Zoey to the Emergency Vet where they found out she had 3 broken ribs and was suffering from a head trauma. She was put on oxygen immediately along with a lot of pain meds.   Zoey didn’t have much of an appetite these first few days.  The doctors also had to help to keep Zoey hydrated.  

Yesterday, they moved Zoey to Newtown Vet Specialists where they have the technology and equipment to take care of Zoey. The doctors are waiting it out to see if she’ll require having a cat scan.  They’d like to hold out on having the cat scan as long as possible since that would be mean Zoey would need general anesthesia and they don’t want to do that. 

Since arriving to Newtown they have seen some slight improvements in her appetite. Which is a good sign. She was even wagging her tail and peeking up at Jenny when Jenny was able to see her.

Today Zoey is being weaned off fetanyl and has gotten off the oxygen.They are now maintaining her blood and liver enzyme levels and watching to see if she’ll need a scan on her shoulder or brain. 

The family isn’t able to see Zoey because of all the covid restrictions. 

As of today Zoey’s vet bill is over 10,000 and climbing.  Any amount you can give would be helpful to alleviate this added stress on Jenny. I know she is incredibly humble and would never reach out for help but those of you who know her well know this dog is her everything.  Zoey is right up in rank with Lexi and Addie!  What ever you can do to help will be so appreciated.
