Hey everyone, I'm Steve and I own a pet care company in Santa Monica. A couple of years ago, I was introduced to a young man who ran away from the war in Ukraine. Alone through multiple countries and somehow, after a long wait at the border in Mexico, he was able to come to America. Even though he knew no one and left all his friends and family back home, he finally felt free and safe. He ended up finding a job at a store on Venice Beach, met my friend Dawn's daughter Sydney there, and they became close friends. So close that when she was going to school in Boston, she asked her mom if he could stay in her room while she was gone, and that was the beginning of my relationship with the great Peter.
Shortly after moving in with Dawn, Peter went to work with me. Not exaggerating when I say he was the best thing that happened to my company. My dogs and clients loved him right away, and Peter loves them, loves his job, friends, and his life in the United States. So when he got a letter from Homeland Security a couple of weeks ago that said he must LEAVE NOW OR ELSE WE'LL FIND YOU, everything suddenly changed. The moment he shared it with me, I knew I needed to do something. But what? What can I do? I found him a top immigration attorney who said she can help. She seems confident, but it's never 100%.
This GoFundMe is for his lawyer's fees. If Peter gets deported, he will most likely be met at the airport by some very scary guys, thrown into a jail cell for some time, then put in fatigues and thrown into the front lines. We can't let that happen, so please help us help Peter stay in the United States.
