Pregnant Superhero, Suzanne Vargas Fights Cancer

Hi, my name is Brittany and I am fundraising for Suzanne Macauley Vargas, a pregnant superhero fighting stage 3b inflammatory breast cancer.

Suzanne is a superhero. She's smart and kind. She's funny and beautiful. She's married to Dorian and she's a Spanish teacher for the Wake County Public School System. Suzanne is the kind of teacher that would do anything for her students & co-workers, she's the kind of wife who would do anything for her husband, and she's the kind of person that would do anything for her friends & family.

In January 2023 Suzanne and her husband were excited to announce their first pregnancy and eagerly planning for their future. They were ecstatic to learn they were having a baby girl and saved to buy their first home. However, tragedy struck when the couple learned Suzanne was diagnosed with stage 3b inflammatory breast cancer. Being pregnant is hard and having cancer is horrible but to endure both, at the same time, is unimaginable.

Suzanne will begin with 20 weeks of chemotherapy, she will have a break in treatment to deliver her sweet baby girl, then she will begin radiation treatments. Suzanne's doctors also predict she will need a double mastectomy and an oophorectomy. As a result, her immune system will be very weak and likely impact her ability to continue working.

Any money raised for Suzanne and her growing family will be used to compensate for any potential loss of income, ease the burden of medical bills and help this family keep their new home. Suzanne is one of the strongest, most selfless people I know. She has the biggest heart and is always there to give her love and support to anyone who needs it.
