Premie Baby, 2 Cross Country Moves and a Shutdown!

Hello Everyone, 

This past year our family has gone through several financial hardships. Starting with last March our son, Eli, was born prematurely at 29 weeks and 5 days at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA.

Due to his low birth weight and lack of respiratory capabilities, he required a lengthy stay at the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for over two months, and needless to say, we accrued an extensive amount of medical bills. We are happy to report that he is doing well, and will be celebrating his firth birthday in a couple of months. 

Later on in June, due to my job with the FAA, our family had to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona. For anyone not familiar with the costs of cross country moves, they can cost upwards of $5,000. This required us to use most of our savings and some money that we had left on our credit card. 

Unfortunately, the job in Phoenix did not work out as I had planned, and in December I was fortunate enough to be able to return to my old job in the Washington DC area, however, that meant another cross country move. The little remaining savings and credit that we had left was all used up for the move, and we would be living paycheck to paycheck for the foreseeable future. 

Finally things started to settle down, and then just a few weeks after arriving here to the DC area we learn that because of the government shutdown, we won't be receiving a paycheck until congress resolves the current budget dispute. 

Simply put, we need some help! We have gone through all of our savings and available credit, and quite frankly we're almost out of money. I've been able to go to a local food bank through our church, but day to day expenses like cars, utilities, rent and other bills still need to be paid.
