Lets get Women Into DevOps careers!

Hi I'm Silvia Briscoe , an engineer at F5 Networks and board member of Software Freedom School . My colleague Anthony Sayre and I are raising money to send two women (Denise and Nowai) on a DevOps learning path with us and our friends.
It's no secret there are few women working in the tech industry today. There are even fewer in the DevOps , IT infrastructure sector.
Software Freedom School is a grass roots organization that teaches open source DevOps tools and Linux, in and around Denver, to people who want to change their lives and/or improve their career options. Despite a few exceptions (like me), our group reflects this dearth of women and diversity in general. We want to change that!

These are the two women we want to sponsor:
Nowai Mathew:
Nowai graduated from Purdue University majoring in Computer Graphics. Since then she has developed multiple applications using technologies such as JSP, HTML5/HTML, CSS3/CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, RequireJS and others. Her favorite part about work is developing large e-commerce apps. She is an active coordinator for Women Who Code and in her spare time she enjoys yoga, gaming and hiking. In her own words she is looking forward to DevOps Camp because, "I’m looking forward to expanding my technical skill set around dev ops and gaining a deeper knowledge of dev ops in general. I’m also looking forward to gaining knowledge that I can apply at my current role."
Denise Ochoa:
Is a graduate of CSU and is a bilingual Data Center Technician. She focuses on troubleshooting and supporting the software development lab systems for software development and test engineering teams. Her favorite part about work is figuring out each challenge the diverse networking environments present. In her spare time she enjoys boxing. She is really looking forward to attending Devops camp because it will provide hands on experience and expose the challenges the of the entire Devops lifecycle.

Q1: Why should individuals contribute to this fund?
A1: Careers in DevOps and IT infrastructure are good high paying jobs that have been dominated by men for a long time. But history has shown that women's legacy in this industry is long and glorious . You can help put women where they belong (in tech!) by contributing dollars to an immersive learning program that includes:
- Linux admin basics for those who need it
- DevOps Camp this summer!
- Mock interviews with a real IT hiring manager
- Follow-up training for 6 months
Q2: Why should companies contribute to this fund?
A2: There is growing evidence that diversity is badly needed for companies to transform and remain relevant in the digital era. "Out-of-the-box thinking" can no longer be just some buzz-word. The new mantra is "disrupt or die", and yet many companies continue to struggle with guiding their own paths to new and innovative ideas.
Contributing to this fund can directly help your pipeline of talent. You'll get brand recognition. Give us your company logo and we'll put it on our site, and splash it on promotional material at our classes . Also you can participate in the mock interview process if desired, let us know in comments if you'd like to!

Q3: Where does my contribution go?
A3:
- Tuition for two women in tech to enroll in the immersive learning program described in A1 above. Also, lodging and food at DevOps Camp!
- Any amount beyond tuition/food/lodging for the two will go into a women in tech fund that will pay tuition for women to attend future SFS events, or if we get enough, a 3rd woman in tech in the program.
