Preserve Broward Point
Donation protected
Broward Point Preserve is a 501c3 non-profit established for the purpose of saving natural resources, fragile environments, and ecosystems from overdevelopment. Our current campaign is for $6 million to purchase 130 acres located at Broward Road and North Main Street in Jacksonville, Florida.
- Imagine a place where inner-city children can experience nature, unspoiled by man, minutes from where they live.
- Imagine a place where wildlife is safe from boats and pollution, has a natural food source and is protected from urban sprawl.
Broward Point Preserve is just that, one of the last unspoiled natural green spaces left in North Jacksonville, teaming with wildlife, Broward Point Preserve has been largely undisturbed by man for over 150 years. Merritt Creek is void of pollution runoff from fertilized lawns and boat traffic and Florida’s endangered Manatee have been observed breeding in these waters. This 130+ acres is also a stopover point in the North-South Flyway for at least 34 species of Migratory Birds.
Broward Point Preserve, Inc. and the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens have teamed up to not only save this Green Space but create a Nature-Based Educational Space for our underserved Urban Youth, the first of its kind in the U.S. Zoological community.
Once purchased, this land and waterway will be donated to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and will serve critical purposes:
The lush vegetation and fertile soil on the land will support the Zoo’s herbivore animals referred to as “Browsers” with an abundant food source.
The natural forest and wildlife, many protected and endangered species, will become an educational backdrop for underprivileged urban youth, offering them a unique experience to interact with nature.
Please donate today and help us save this pristine environment for future generations to enjoy.
Thank you so much for your support.
