Preserve Dry Needling in Connecticut

Donation protected
We need your help to preserve your right to perform dry needling in Connecticut.

We received notice this summer from the Connecticut Department of Public Health that the Physical Therapist Board of Examiners would be holding proceedings on two questions:  (1) Can Physical Therapists perform Acupuncture and (2) Is Dry Needling within the scope of our practice act.

If these proceedings hold against our ability to perform dry needling, it would have significant implications for PTs and their patients in the state of Connecticut.

Fortunately, we were granted status as a party to the proceedings and submitted testimony on September 3rd.  We have a right to rebut the testimony of others by September 17th.  Finally, our experts, Jay Myerson and Don Johnson, will appear at the hearing on October 1st at the Legislative Office Building to be sworn in and, potentially, cross-examined.  We expect a decision at some point during 2019.

This effort has come at a great cost to the chapter.  We expect to spend upwards of $25,000 in legal fees to ensure our right to participate as well as win a decision supported by the facts.

We didn't wait to raise these funds to act, because this is so important.  We do need your help now.  Won't you make a contribution to this effort so that Connecticut remains a place where physical therapists may practice to the full extent of their education.
