Preserve our History and Artifacts
Our museum is a treasured repository of history, housing irreplaceable artifacts that tell the story of our community and its heritage. The South Similkameen Museum is entirely operated and maintained by volunteers, and has no consistent funding from any source.
Over the years, the wear and tear from the elements have posed a significant threat to these valuable items. Rain, snow, and fluctuating temperatures have gradually taken their toll on the building's weather proofing which now leaks, risking damage that could alter or even erase our shared history.
To combat this we are embarking on a crucial weatherproofing project aimed at reinforcing the building's exterior envelope. This initiative will not only protect the artifacts from the harsh effects of nature but also ensure that future generations can appreciate and learn from our rich past. By investing in this project, we are safeguarding our community's settler and First Nations'
heritage and ensuring that our museum remains a vibrant and welcoming space for all.
