Preserve Psychedelic Nursing History

Donation protected
Kay Parley was a young nurse working in Saskatchewan, Canada with Dr Humphry Osmond, treating patients with alcohol use disorders with LSD during important early work at Weyburn Hospital in the late 1950's. She described her experience in both a 1964 article in the American Journal of Nursing entitled "Supporting the Patient on LSD Day " and her 2016 memoir "Inside the Mental : Silence, Stigma, Psychiatry, and LSD," written when she was 93 years old.

Now a spry 100 years old (you can get a sense of her spirit here ), she's agreed to sit down with Andrew Penn (UCSF School of Nursing/Cofounder: OPENurses ) and Erika Dyck (History of Medicine, University of Saskatoon/ Author: LSD on the Canadian Prairies) for an interview which we plan on recording, transcribing, and sharing for the future.

As the psychedelic field prepares to enter a new era, it is critical that we learn from and honor our past, especially those voices that are not as well known. Kay Parley is a living legend and we look forward to learning from her this February, just before her 101st birthday.

Funds raised will help pay for travel expenses to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada for Professors Dyck and Penn, to pay for filming and editing of the interview, and to throw Ms Parley a little early birthday party.
