Presfield Sixth Form's Adventures

Mrs Westfield  Mrs Elston and Miss McLoughlin are currently in training for this year's Mad Dog 10k run on Sunday 3rd February. They are running to raise money towards Presfield Sixth Form's end of year residential to France!

Our school is unique as all of our students have a diagnosis of ASC and associated communication difficulties, however, we strongly subscribe to Dr Stephen Shores view that ‘Once you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism’ and therefore we are passionate about challenging the stereotypical view of people with autism.

Each year we organise an end of year residential trip. This year’s trip is not only celebrating the beginning of summer but it gives the students the chance to develop their independent travel skills, to meet people who speak a different language and communicate on a level that is challenging to someone with autism and equip them with the skills they will need to access ‘life after Presfield’. In addition to this, this year’s trip is especially important as it will count towards completion of their gold Duke of Edinburgh award which makes both them and their families incredibly proud as we’re sure you will agree this is a fantastic achievement regardless if you have a diagnosis.
