Presley’s Heart Transplant Journey

In July 2021, Presley Hewitt at just 9 years old was rushed to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital to confirm she’d had a stroke. After a week long stay and a lot of testing to find the definite cause, her mother Meghan Andrews was informed that Presley had been diagnosed with a heart condition, restrictive cardiomyopathy. A condition which has no cure. This news was devastating to Meghan and our family. The doctors and specialist on her medical team at Mary Bridge had done everything to stabilize Presley for the time being but the only option at this time is a heart transplant.

 

During her stay at Mary bridge Presley was referred to follow up with Seattle Children’s heart failure/ transplant team. Presley is currently home and on multiple medications including injections twice a day and periodic heart monitors.

 

Starting in October Presleys visits will significantly increase with multiple assessments and appointments with her cardiologist, hematologist, neurologist and transplant team at Seattle Children’s. Once the required pre transplant testing is complete Presley’s results will be reviewed and presented to a board to then formally be added to the transplant list.

 

This has put an incredible financial burden on Meghan. Insurance covers many of Presley’s medical expenses but many things are left up to her mom to take care of. We’ve created this gofundme in hopes that you will support Meghan and Presley during this hardship. Life changed quick for Meghan and Presley.

 

As this journey continues, I (Juanita, Meghan’s niece) will be updating you all on appointments and any news we get from her medical team and Meghan. A bank account has been set up for all funds to be directly accessible to Meghan. Donations will be used for travel to and from medical appointments, lodging for appointments in Seattle, meals, medication or treatment not covered by insurance and bills.
