JB Productions produces 1st film, PRETTY CRAZY

Hello, I'm Maurice “Mo'” Jones. After 20+ years of producing successful comedy shows and working with some of the best & greatest comedians from Chicago (Craig Robinson, Deon Cole, Lil’ Rel, Shawn Morgan, Leon Rogers, Damon Williams, Tony Sculfield, and plenty more); I am ready to embark on my next journey – film production! Not only will this be an impeccable journey for me; I will also be working alongside my daughter, a Television Arts graduate; who assisted me in writing the script; and a few of my nieces (Business Administration & Communications Media Management degrees) who have worked in Hollywood television & event productions and other indie film projects. This new venture will essentially be the next phase of JB Productions!
One day while at my day job, my buddy and I came up with this story while on lunch break (picture this): A single guy that has always dated beautiful women, who all had one thing in common - they were all pretty crazy. His best friend is getting married and it made him think about finding his “true love” too. In his search to find her, he is forced to confront a hidden fear that has kept him gravitating to unstable relationships. The fear - commitment.
This story should be told because it examines the depths of millennial dating in a major city. The film will explore the hilarious ironies of black men in America and the pressures of healing from ones past and the karmic routines - by displaying the pretty, crazy relationships and encounters that black men have with the women in their lives; to the glorification of what success looks like for the average black male in today’s society.
My team and I have secured a talented and prolific Chicago-native Filmmaker, Director, and Story Consultant, Kenny Young, who has graciously agreed to assist in a directorial capacity. The monies that we raise will be used to bring local Chicago-based talent to the project; that will include but not limited to: hiring a producer, cast, production crew, post-production, location & set design, feeding the crew (craft services), submitting the project to film festivals, & much more!
Our goal is to raise $50,000. Although this is a small budget, we are destined to make it work. Any amount that you donate will be very much appreciated!
