Prevent Famine In Cambodia

Emergency, please help me feed Cambodian families in fear of famine
Hello, I'm Tim Hull, as you may know I'm always travelling and meeting people in distant lands. I'm helping Phalla Yai to organise this fundraising campaign. I have known her for over a year and am honoured to help her raise funds for a desperate situation in her country, Cambodia. Here is her message:
I am Phalla Yai, running a small homestay located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Due to the Covid outbreak, many businesses have closed. I too have downsized my homestay by moving into a smaller home. Because there are no tourists and little work to do, I decided to use my spare time to help those people who are struggling during this crisis.
Last weekend, I visited one of the poorest villages called Bos Ta Trav located in Svay Chek Commune, about 25km northwest of Siem Reap. The village chief introduced me to the 20 poorest families for me to interview and learn about their current situation. Each family’s story of how little they could earn each day, but still survive, broke my heart. Each of these families live in little more than a shack with barely enough to eat each day. Due to Covid, around 85% of these families suddenly lost their construction working jobs. Their only fallback is traditional basket weaving, for which they can only earn $1 per day to feed their 5 to 9 family members. Most of these families cannot produce much of their own rice as the land is too dry. One family can only produce 2-3 sacks of rice per year, which is nowhere near enough to feed the whole family. (1 sack = 50 kg). Additional to the poor nutrition of these families, they lack clean drinking water, often drinking directly from the well without filtration.
These malnourished families are now dangerously close to a long-term famine as they brace themselves for many more months without work prospects. Please help me to help them survive.
Here is one of the families I interviewed:
The mother 49, living with her husband and 7 children. The mother has been suffering from Tuberculosis (TB) for 20 years and the father for 3 years. The wife has been to hospital for 3 times but her condition has not been cured. Their eldest son also contracted TB 1 year ago. The mother and father are not able to do any hard work. Their 2 eldest children, 21 and 19, are relied upon to support the whole family. The other 5 children are 10, 7, 5, 3 and 2 are too young to work. Some of the family members are often sick.
With your support, I will buy rice, noodles, eggs, soap, fish cans and other groceries to put into packages for each family that I will start to deliver to them next week. Each family will receive a food package of $20 twice per month. I am planning to support these families for 3 months until they can support themselves again. If we raise more than our goal, we will give the families water filters. If we raise even more money we will help the many other poor families nearby. I guarantee that 100% of all donations will go directly to the family.
For as little as $1 a day, you can help 1 family with 5-9 members survive this economic disaster by giving them some food.
If you are in Cambodia and would like to visit a family and make your donation directly or participate in helping purchase, packing and delivery, you are very welcome to join me.
Thank you for reading and please help me to make it possible!
