Prevent RJ being made homeless by an abusive mother
Donation protected
RJ is an autistic black man (23) living in Ireland with his mother and brother.
On April 30th, his mother is moving into a new house and is offering housing and financial support to his brother (22), but has decided that RJ does not deserve any of the same support.
Despite struggling with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations, having nowhere else to go, and being unable to work legally due to waiting on his Irish citizenship to be processed, he is being kicked out and made homeless.
His mother does not empathize with the situation he is in, and strongly believes that it is his fault he's dealing with this, despite her not even giving him enough time for his citizenship to be processed after telling him he's being kicked out from the very start. She believes that RJ must "figure this out himself".
His friends, myself, and even his therapist, all feel that his mother's behaviour is abusive, heartless, selfish and unfair.
I, RJ's friend, am making this GoFundMe because I strongly believe with the evidence available to me that RJ has not been parented fairly as an AuDHD person. It is clear to me that his mother has not made an effort to accommodate his neurodivergence to prepare him for a task as heavy as moving out and becoming self-sustaining.
I want him to be given a proper chance to learn to be independent instead of being tossed to the streets with no time for him to adapt.
There is no excuse for a mother to be doing this to their son--much less one that clearly needs support--especially while favouring her other son with full support.
Where is the money going?
The funds from this fundraiser will be sent directly from GoFundMe to RJ and will be used for temporary housing and food while waiting for his citizenship to be processed. Once processed, RJ can set up disability benefits, begin working and find stable footing.
He often feels like there is no hope in escaping this situation but is giving me permission to let me try to raise money for him.
I want RJ to see that there are people willing to empathize with him and offer help. I want him to make it out of this so that he can pursue the things he loves doing and see how good life can be.
A donation of any size would mean the world to me. Thank you.
