Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue
Hedgehogs are now classified as Vulnerable to Extinction in the UK, its time for us to act to save this iconic species. Prickles and Paws is the main hedgehog rescue for Cornwall and last year we admitted an astounding 1,400 hogs. I am trying to help the charity to continue rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing hedgehogs by walking a mile a day for the month of March.
Hedgehogs easily roam a mile a night, during breeding season males will roam double this. You’d be surprised just how far a mile is, hopefully walking this distance each day will help highlight the hazards hedgehogs face and the need for them to be able to access gardens.
How you will be helping hedgehogs:
£25 – covers a course of antibiotics for a hoglet with pneumonia
£50 – covers the cost of surgery for an injured hedgehog to have wounds cleaned and stitched.
£100 – provides 120 meals of a specialist gastrointestinal diet
£200 – provides all the food and care to hand raise 8 hoglets through to release back into the wild (charity number: 1174597)
