My daughter, Priddy Jackson was kidnapped and murdered on May 31st, 2021. The crime was so brutal that it took months for the medical examiner to identify the trauma her body went through. My daughter was the 82nd homicide in Jackson in 2021 and the rate of human trafficking has increased over the pandemic. WHY ISN'T MORE BEING DONE TO PROTECT THE WOMEN & GIRLS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD?! Please help me spread the word to protect our girls...this is Priddy's purpose.
My daughter had just turned 19 when she was killed. I was so proud of her for getting a job, her own car, and enrolling in her first year of college. She didn’t even get a chance. Her future was robbed from her. When I spoke with the medical examiner she told me my daughter's homicide was one of the worst she had ever seen. Last week I had to identify what was left of my daughter's body. This should not be anyone's reality. I don’t know how to move on because I still don’t believe it's real. Everyday feels like a nightmare. I miss Priddy so much, her sweet voice and the touch of her beautiful skin. Priddy was so wise, she had so many friends, she was a social butterfly, she was so talented in singing and dance choreography. She spread her light everywhere she went. Priddy stood up for herself and she was strong until the very end. With all the strength I have left I'm going to make sure her light continues to shine by protecting other girls.
There are so many details I wish I could share with y’all right now, but I can’t for my own safety. We are living in fear on a daily bases. I’m scared to go to the gas stations, to the supermarkets -- I’m scared for our mothers and daughters! How long can we sit back while we are being slaughtered!? We’re terrified in our own neighborhoods and we’re forced to deal with it in silence. This has become a numbing and normal occurrence for us. This should not be anyone’s reality. I want to find a way out for myself and other mothers and children. Let’s stand up together against sex trafficking, gun violence, and domestic violence!!
Yesterday (9/25/21) we buried Priddy. Her funeral happened to fall close to the International Day of Non-Violence and the day to take action to raise awareness and prevent violence against women and girls. This is no coincidence. This is #PriddyPurpose. Please share my daughter’s story and let’s fight with her and for her!
✨✨Blessings in return✨✨
The funds I am raising will go to:
MY SAFETY & SECURITY:
- Housing security & safety for myself and my family — to ensure our safety I need to relocate myself and my 12 year old daughter to a safe neighborhood.
- Medical Bills — Including trauma counseling and additional forms of therapy.
- Legal Bills — for upcoming legal action pertaining to my daughter’s case and resources to navigate the criminal and legal system.
PRIDDY'S PURPOSE:
- The resources and capital needed to start a foundation for the prevention of violence towards women and girls in Priddy’s name.
- I want to organize support groups for survivors or homicide like myself providing talking circles, education, and other resources that will help young women like Priddy as well as their families.
Additional facts: As of this week 9/19/2021, Mississippi launched a website for reporting human trafficking cases.
Priddy was the 82nd homicide in Jackson 2021. The rate of human trafficking has risen in Mississippi during the pandemic. This is another kind of pandemic that has been going on for hundreds of years. https://www.mpbonline.org/blogs/news/human-trafficking-in-mississippi-rises-during-coronavirus-pandemic/
