On July 20th Jay and Jennifer Wheeler of Easton Massachusetts learned that you don't take things in life for granted.

Their life was turned upside down as they  were told that their 7 year old daughter, Piersyn, has a brain tumor.

On Friday July 20, Piersyn woke up with a bad headache. She had been having headaches on and off for about 2 weeks but it wasn't until the mother of all headaches landed them at South Shore Hospital ER Friday night.
The doctors were leaning towards this being a bad migrane but for piece of mind they ordered a CT scan (MRI was to backed up to do it) to ensure them that she was fine and they could go on their planned annual family vacation to Cape Cod.

After what seemed like eternity, the doctor came in and told them the horrific news that no parent ever wants to hear. "We found a mass on your daughter's brain".
The doctor told them he had been working with Boston Children's Hospital ER to get her tranported and admitted to Children's ICU.

Upon arrival in Boston the head of the. Neurosurgery Team was waiting for the
He explained everything so easily that even in the state of shock that they were in, they felt confident that he was the right doctor for Piersyn - and they were right.

They were able to determine that the type of tumor she has was most likely benign (pilocystic astrocytoma), but must come out.
It is a 5cm tumor on the cerebellum of the brain which controls coordination, balance, and speech.

If anyone knows Piersyn she has been clumsy her whole life, this explains a lot! Since the tumor is so large the brain fluid cannot pass thru the cerebellum to the spinal cord so there is built up fluid on the top of her brain causing pain as well

On July 22 she had a 6 hour surgery to remove a 5 cm benign (THANK YOU GOD)  pilocytic astrocytoma. She is making leaps and bounds in her recovery but it has not been easy and this will be a long road.
She will need intensive ongoing rehab and medical expenses will be steep as insurance doesn't cover everything.
Jason has worked on the Easton police Department for over ten years and both of their employer’s  have been wonderful but now that crisis mode is over, we are going to need to start building them back up.

The Wheelers need all the thoughts prayers they can get so please keep them in your hearts as she begins this journey to recovery
We need to support this family so that they can be right next to her every step of the way.

It won't be an easy road; she is little, but fierce and we are confident she will do well with the help of her village!

Lets do this!!!   ❤️
