Mental health issues in our country are at an all-time high, yet millions of people lack access to the support that could change, or even save their lives.
In 2024 alone, around 60 million Americans—23% of adults—are experiencing serious mental health challenges. Tragically, suicide rates are at record highs, now the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. The crisis also heavily impacts our youth, with nearly 9% struggling with substance use and many others facing anxiety, depression, and related issues without support. Substance use issues are equally concerning, affecting 18% of adults nationwide, creating yet another barrier to mental wellness.
Millions of people suffer without any support– never receiving education or guidance on the habits, modalities, practices, and resources that promote positive mental wellbeing.
Worse still, the United States mental healthcare system is broken to the point that we are seeing heartbreaking statistics revealing that those who do have access to in-patient treatments often come out of these hospitalizations worse off than when they checked-in.
We are going to change that.
Research shows that holistic approaches to mental health, which focus on the integration of mind, body, and spirit, can significantly improve quality of life. For example, studies consistently report that practices like mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and nutrition-based interventions can reduce anxiety and depression symptoms effectively.
These approaches provide comprehensive care, considering the entire person rather than just treating specific symptoms or conditions, and are particularly beneficial in treating anxiety, depression, and substance abuse issues. Holistic treatments have been found to complement traditional therapies well, potentially yielding more sustainable and transformative mental health improvements.
That said, these modalities are generally not covered by insurance and thus only accessible to those who are able to afford to pay for them out-of-pocket. This severely limits inclusivity, leaving millions to navigate the limited and often ineffective traditional mental health care services covered by insurance in the US, or worse, receive no support whatsoever.
What is Prism Academy?
Who We Are:
We are a collective of visionary healers, leaders, and practitioners dedicated to empowering individuals through accessible, long-term academy-based holistic wellness programs and transformational coaching modules.
Our Mission:
Our mission is to empower those in underserved communities who are struggling with mental health conditions and addiction by providing accessible holistic healing, transformational support, and community building. Through our innovative cyclical, academy-based format, we guide individuals through a personalized, multi-tiered journey of self-discovery, growth, healing, and empowerment, focusing on the interconnected aspects of Mind, Body, and Spirit.
By educating and encouraging lifestyle interventions that support long-term well-being and resilience, our programs integrate elements from both traditional therapeutic practice and complementary treatments to create a comprehensive experience where those who rise through the program ultimately become mentors and guides themselves. This cycle solidifies our ¨pain to purpose¨ model, creates a foundation of compassionate community, and ultimately sustains long-term lifestyle change.
Our Unique Approach
Individuals enrolled in our program will be matched with a coach or counselor with expertise specific to their needs. Concurrently, ‘students’ will complete our signature Prism Curriculum which covers basic psychoeducation, skill building, emotional regulation, holistic health concepts, and gain tools necessary for a happy, harmonious and successful life.
The Prism Curriculum is designed to be educational and supportive to the healing and actualization journey, providing applicable tools, somatic awareness, and general emotional intelligence education. Our unique system approach promotes a cyclical/ ‘pay it forward’ model whereas our coaches support the underserved and the graduates become the buddy support system for the next cohort.
Our Founders:
Beks: My name is Rebecca Turlay. I am a veteran, yogi, mystic, student, facilitator, and guide. I believe a large part of my existence is to help others find themselves in their dark night, and alchemize pain into purpose.
Through my own healing and integration of shadow parts, I have come into a life and a way of being that feels authentic, yet radical compared to the one I grew up in.
I believe our destiny is revealed with each step we take on the path towards compassion and authenticity. It's my calling in this life to help others take steps on their path, particularly during their shadow chapters.
The path towards healing begins in ourselves, but I believe it is necessary to be supported by community throughout the transformational process.
You are not alone. We are here for you.
Madalyn: My name is Madalyn Mahoney. I am devoted to the liberation and the joy of uncovering a soul's most authentic expression. I feel a deep drive to help people navigate their shadows and transform pain into purpose and fear into freedom.
My mission is to educate and empower vulnerable individuals on how to holistically heal mind, body, and spirit through self-discovery and to provide guidance as they transmute suffering and addiction into wisdom and creation—so they can lead fulfilling lives and create ripples of healing and abundance throughout their communities.
Tatiana: I am Tatiana and for over a decade I have been dedicated to serving humanity by guiding others toward greater self-love, self-realization, and self-actualization through the practice of holistic modalities. As a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic health counselor, and transformational coach I aim to bring more harmony, intentionality and aliveness into the lives of those I work with by facilitating the release of physical, mental/emotional, and energetic blocks and providing tools for personal empowerment.
My own struggle with depression, anxiety, and an exasperation with ineffective pharmaceutical approaches originally motivated my exploration into alternative modalities, and continues to fuel my desire to provide greater accessibility of these interventions to those in need.
Hannah: I’m Hannah Hunter, and I’m passionate about every single person on this planet having the tools they need in order to harness the innate power that lies within. We must find ways, as a collective, to break down barriers standing in between us and our birthright: full embodiment and the pursuit of happiness
I specialize in fitness and nutrition, supporting others in becoming more active participants in their own physical experience. By taking full responsibility for how we feel in our bodies, which directly correlates to mental health, we get to experience what I like to call full spectrum living.
Let me also recognize how imperfect and messy the journey of becoming actually is, the way it can be so brutal without support. I believe that our realities come into alignment as we seek further alignment without ourselves.I believe there are holistic ways to physically and emotionally transmute pain, because energy cannot be created nor destroyed; only transformed. And I believe in community, because trial and tribulation was never meant to be experienced alone.
