Prism Glasses for BVD Desperately Needed
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Shea and my glasses broke. They were my last pair, and I got them in 2020.
I needed an eye exam, but I'm the 50-year-old single autistic parent of a disabled dependent young adult, and my only current means of income is food delivery. I don't make enough money to do much of anything.
A friend gifted me an eye exam for Christmas, and at the exam, I was diagnosed with BVD, or Binocular Vision Disorder.
Basically, my eyes process information independently instead of jointly. It causes a lot of mental strain, eye strain, and visual differences.
This vision disorder requires adding prisms to my prescription. I would need Progressive Bifocals with prisms.
There are very few online places that deal with prism lenses, so I do have to go through the eye doctor. I asked them what the lenses would cost with the cheapest frames, and the office quote was at least $700.
I can't come up with that. It's outside my means, and I don't have insurance to cover any part of this. But the lenses are medically necessary.
So I'm turning to GoFundMe to try and get the special glasses that I need. I added a cushion for the GoFundMe fees, and any taxes or charges for the glasses that come up.
I'd be very grateful for this life-changing help.
Thank you.
