We are the parents of Dani-Rae our beautiful 19 month month old baby girl
Dani-Rae is a beautiful, intelligent and happy 19- month-old. There is not a day that goes by where she is not smiling and chatting away.
Everyone that knows our little girl knows that she is an alert and inquisitive little soul that loves interacting with everyone, who is always happy and takes everything in her stride. She is loved so dearly by all her family and friends. Despite her diagnosis, we are dedicated to giving her the best life. We just want to help our baby thrive and flourish despite her diagnosis and help her the best we can with the challenges she may face. We hope to plan events and fundraisers after Christmas to raise money for Dani and give back to SMA charities alongside raising awareness.
Together we can find a cure.
Unfortunately dani Rae was admitted to hospital on the 10th March 2024 due to a respiratory infection she had to be intubated and 6 weeks later we are still in hospital and Dani is recovering she has regressed a lot and we now have to focus on her recovery both mentally and physically please if you can help it really is appreciated
Or just a simple share goes a long way
On 15.11.2022, Dani was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which after recent assessments and a while in hospital we found out that it is type 1C. SMA is a rare genetic condition that causes weak muscle tone and muscle waste. SMA is caused by the body missing an essential gene in the DNA (The SMN1 gene, enabling muscle function). There is no cure.
There is a 1 in 10,000 chance that a baby is born with this condition; unfortunately, Dani was that
1. Dani will be undergoing life saving treatment to prevent muscle deterioration and give her the chance to gain strength. She will be receiving her gene therapy on the 14th of December.
This Gofundme page is to raise money for Dani-Rae’s SMA journey. Any money raised will go towards; endless private physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and specialist equipment to enable Dani to gain strength and mobilise. Dani and we as her parents will be highly grateful for any support given to our daughter.
