Pro Active Health raising funds for local Veterans
Donation protected
LT. Michael P. Murphy was a Navy SEAL who died in action in 2005 while serving as part of a 4 man team in Afghanistan. During a combat encounter, LT. Murphy heroically took himself out of cover exposing himself to opposing gunfire in order to get a signal to call for reinforcements. LT. Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor for encouraging and leading his men against a large opposing force while sacrificing his life.
LT. Murphy's favourite workout has been turned into the "Murph challenge". This challenge is now used to remember and fundraise for army veterans as well as to provide scholarships. Millions of dollars are raised each year during this challenge. (To read more about LT. Murphy visit https://www.navy.mil/MEDAL-OF-HONOR-RECIPIENT-MICHAEL-P-MURPHY/. )
The challenge consists of 2 x 1.6km runs (1 mile each), 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats. This can be completed with a 10kg weighted vest as LT. Murphy would use.
Our Pro Active Health's Exercise Physiologists (Sam, Simon and Danial) will be completing the Murph Challenge of 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, and a 2 mile run in the gym to help raise awareness and raise funds for Local Veterans.
