Procedural Fairness for Staff Sergeant Dave Haynes
Donation protected
Over the last few years, I’ve made some very tough decisions and have faced a ton of public scrutiny simply for sharing information that I knew in my heart people needed to see because what was happening in society and to society, was so very wrong.
This however, is by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, knowing this leaves us extremely open and vulnerable, but I know in my heart that what has transpired over the last year between my husband and his employer is not right. I am asking you for your help so that we can afford an outside legal counsel to represent my husband against the services prosecution.
My husband is a Staff Sergeant for the Toronto Police Service whom with he’s faithfully served for the last 22 years. A Staff Sergeant is in charge of the primary response officers that show up and deal with public radio calls for 12+ hours straight.
He mentors and guides his men and women, provides training and support and holds officers accountable to provide the best customer service possible given the limited resources made available by the service.
He is dedicated and compassionate, he’s empathic and emotionally intelligent, transparent and accountable in the customer service he provides which is second to none in the service.
If you follow my husband on Instagram, you will know what he is all about and you will know his character.
For the last year, he has been facing some serious allegations as a result of him trying to be transparent about a safe working environment. While one has already been found unsubstantiated, I cannot get into specific details about the remaining allegations until he is publicly charged, as it could further impact him.
I don’t have confidence that he will be given a fair hearing or investigation based on our unique political affiliation among other bonafide reasons. That said, the reason I feel this way is because my thoughts have been validated since day one from multiple credible sources.
Without being able to provide proper context or perspective in relation to the allegations, it is my understanding that my husband will not be able to defend himself transparently through the process.
While we have been eagerly seeking a fair opportunity to publicly explain his actions; to avoid these allegations going public, the service offered a “deal” instead of proceeding with the trial, which first appearance was set for October 2024, however due to reasons beyond our control, has been postponed several times with a new date of February 25th 2025.
The negotiations from the service unfortunately includes my husband dropping a very serious grievance that addresses serious systemic supervisory concerns. Not being able to fairly grieve your employer for wrongful actions is a very serious concern to us and the fact that his association is encouraging him to drop the grievance and take the “deal” shows me enough that they cannot provide us with fair unbiased representation.
Because of this, we have tried to seek outside counsel but it has been denied to be financially supported by his association, despite paying his association dues for 22 years. We believe that procedural fairness based on political bias is at stake and I have some serious concerns for the way the my husband is being treated.
There are many reasons in my eyes as to why we should be provided an opportunity to have unbiased, out of province and unaffiliated with the Toronto Police Association and/or The Toronto Police Service third party counsel to see the disclosures.
In the last 4 years, my husband has been sent home on unpaid leave for 7 months for asking for more information about the ethicacy of a vaccine being forced upon it’s members and what has turned out to be the most grotesque medical overstepping we’ve seen in our lifetime thus far. Furthering this, he spent 4 months off unpaid last year as his PTSD was severely triggered and the service did not support his clinical psychologists diagnosis.
It’s so unfair to not be able to disclose all the details to you guys while asking for your help to seek justice. I was really hopeful that the association would support us financially and provide us the opportunity for transparent outside legal counsel. Unfortunately, this will not be the case.
I know first responders and military and many regular civilians face what my husband has been facing and unfortunately they choose suicide because the pressure becomes too great.
This is why we feel so strongly that God put us here for a reason. He’s given us the ability to keep climbing, to stand up for others and defend ourselves the best way we can in hopes to one day holistically change the way officers are treated internally within their organizations.
Be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world. My husband needs your help.
