House Bill 1934 was recently passed in Oklahoma which provides vouchers for private schools. Many are concerned that vouchers will allow additional educational options for some demographics but not all, while simultaneously, depleting the public schools’ assets to serve the most vulnerable groups of children. Many other states are exploring this option for families but the implementation of the voucher system can expand or shrink options for students.
Let's Go! is a short film that explores the potential disparity that arises from a voucher-based education system through the lense of middle school romance.
6th grade Santiago, struggles with the English and the courage to say ‘I love you’ to Destiny until she disappears to a private school using a voucher where he is too poor to follow. So, he searches across the city for one last chance to ask her out.
Scheduled to shoot November 18-20, 2023 in Fairfax, Virginia.
