Pro-Fondos Búsqueda Pilotos Desaparecidos en P.R.

Donation protected

On the night of August 4, 2023, 19-year-old pilot and entrepreneur Oswald Fuentes Román was one of the pilots whose Cessna 172 plane (ID: N13384) disappeared from the radar after losing contact with the control tower. They were on their way back to Puerto Rico from St. Thomas. The search has been ongoing for 17 days without meaningful results. Local emergency and rescue agencies in Puerto Rico do not have the specialized technology capable of searching and generating underwater profiles that accurately define sea coordinates for scuba divers to conduct their rescue operations. Local agencies are committed to continuing rescue operations as long as they have the right equipment that will allow for a more efficient and safe search for their divers. This fundraiser was created by Damaris Roman, Oswald’s mother, with the intent to acquire the technology mentioned above and accelerate the search to find their son. Equipment, resources and any other support such as rescue botes will also be provided and funded with these donations. Rescue operations are currently ongoing by local emergency agencies but have required additional support lately which are requiring use of the funds. The money collected will be exclusively used for this purpose. Any equipment squired will then be donated to the local authorities for future rescue operations. The donations are currently being collected through the bank account of a family member, Ricardo Rivera, who will later transfer these funds to Damaris Román, Oswald’s mother.
The pilot's families are hoping to recover their loved ones and the aircraft, clarify what caused the accident and perform the applicable ceremonies as part of the closing and mourning of this tragic event.
