Project Clay Courts
Donation protected
We wish to replace 2 Acrylic tennis courts and one tarmac court with 3 synthetic clay courts in 2020. The Acrylic courts in particular retain water and are unplayable throughout most of winter. In addition they have higher impact on joints and muscles. By replacing with synthetic clay courts we will increase the availability of courts for play during the winter months. We currently cover 3 of our other courts with a bubble in winter however these cannot meet the demand placed upon the courts in winter as the membership of the club continues to grow.
The cost of the project is circa £90k, we have initially allocated £18k to the project from internal funds and plan to raise £40k from member and third party loans with the balance coming from grants/donations /sponsorship and membership packages.
It is important for us to offer all year facilities if we are to develop young players to take the sport forward. Junior, Under 18 and student members pay only a nominal membership fee and if as part of a family membership they are effectively free.
We are trying to provide an environment supported by on site coaching that will ensure a long term future for the sport. Providing all weather outdoor facilities is integral to this
