The countless news stories of gun violence can seem overwhelming. But what is not reported is how organizations like Project H.O.O.D. help to curb these statistics by offering programming and services to those at-risk to violence in Chicago's Southside.
Through a wide variety of programming—including our Violence Prevention Program, B.U.I.L.D Entrepreneurship, and our All-Women Electrical class—we equip people with the resources, tools, and experiences they need to be successful and financially stable members of society. Our Violence Prevention Team works around the clock to stop conflicts before they escalate.
This year, crime in Project H.O.O.D.’s Woodlawn community is down 20%.
After sleeping on the roof of an abandoned motel for 94 days to bring attention to gun violence on the south side of Chicago, the "Rooftop Pastor" Corey Brooks started Project H.O.O.D. with the goal of transforming the South Side of Chicago into a place without gun violence. Since then, he has brokered gang truces, fed the hungry, and offered a safe space to children in the community.
If you donate today, your funds will go to help build a state-of-the-art community center on the land where the motel that started Pastor Corey Brooks’ work once stood. This Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center will allow Project H.O.O.D. to transform the lives of even more disadvantaged residents in the city of Chicago.
Project H.O.O.D. is working every day to mediate conflict, strengthen community ties, transform lives, and reduce gun violence. Our community is benefitting from our intervention.
We seek to empower, not enable. We seek to equip, not excuse. We seek to inform, not ignore.
And today, we seek to stop gun violence before it causes another senseless tragedy with the launch of our Premorial Fund. Please donate and share this page with your network today.
