Project Minnesota Nice
Donation protected
In the spirit of Minnesota nice I have found a way that we can help the
communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. This is without political or social
agenda. The motivation for this project is simply the desire to provide resources to areas of the metro area that are in need the most due to Covid19 and the sudden lack of availability. I am a pharmacist in a hospital system within Minnesota and I am hoping to use my position to provide an opportunity to make a positive impact in the twin cities metro area. I have started the process to see if I can work with my companies business office to potentially purchase all the over the counter items those communities need at wholesale cost. Several community organizations have stepped up and reprioritized themselves as centralized donation centers and distribution sites and I have reached out to one called The Coven. The Coven is one of many community groups that has rededicated it's immediate focus to helping the families and people affected by the current situation in the metro area and they are not only familiar with both Minneapolis and St Paul needs but they are working with the other organizations to get donations where they will best serve
the people. They said the most needed items are Tylenol and ibuprofen (adult
and children), allergy products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, basic first aid supplies, baby items, hygiene products, etc. In the interest of transparency I have asked other pharmacists to work with me and no money will leave the account until the order is placed for the products. Myself and other pharmacist(s) aswas well as volunteers will deliver the items to The Covens Minneapolis site. The Coven will then take over
and disperse the items to areas of most need. This is not limited to the areas
affected by the fires. Surplus will go to homeless shelters, veterans, etc. I have
let The Coven know that I am ready and willing to volunteer but I don't want to micromanage where donations go from the point of drop off. They are doing an amazing job in the community and I know they will make the best use of resources. I would like to set a deadline for June 9 but I will continue using any money that comes in to donate things the cities need regardless of the deadline. Thank you for your consideration
