Project Oxygen Generators, Delhi, India
India, today faces its worst crisis in the post-independence era. COVID-19 has upended an already precarious and challenged health care system of India. It is an unacceptable situation in this era of technological advances, that people are dying because they are deprived of a simple necessity like OXYGEN
We are a group of physicians of Indian origin in United States of America who are terribly saddened by the loss of life and ongoing devastation caused by this scourge due to non-availability of Medical oxygen in Hospitals and outpatient medical facilities.
Rather than assign blame, it is our intent to help with this disaster to the best of our ability. Our goal is that this situation does not happen ever again. While oxygen concentrators are a temporary band-aid ,we are hoping to provide a more permanent solution- OXYGEN GENERATORS in Hospitals of India.
Delhi is a City of 30 million people-nearly 1.5 times the size of New York City
Our goal is to raise funds to provide oxygen generators to atleast 10-12 hospitals in the Delhi NCR region, first, which would make hospitals self-sufficient in this area. Additionally, we want these hospitals to serve as hubs to provide oxygen for other smaller facilities. The cost of a generator is approximately 80-90 thousand US dollars. This generator could potentially fulfil the needs of 250-350 oxygen beds as well as serve as a filling station for oxygen cylinders for smaller nursing facilities.
While this may be beyond any of our individual capacities there is no reason that we cannot collectively achieve this goal.
We request you to generously donate for this cause. While we cannot tell you how much to donate, please realize that this is a once in a generation defining moment for all of us. The life you save could be that of your friend or a family member. It is unconscionable that anybody, anywhere in this world should die gasping for breath.
Thank you for your support.
