Project Pink: Catharine’s Fight Against Cancer

09/08/23 Update: Catharine and Andrew recently learned that reconstructive surgery can't take place until *at least* six months after radiation treatment ends. This means that they're faced with having to meet a THIRD out of pocket maximum when their insurance resets again - another hurdle to overcome on this journey. This increases their total out of pocket medical expenses to $22,000. The entirety of funds raised will now help cover all three out of pocket maximums. We believe that we can meet this goal! Hello, this is an incredibly difficult story to share. One that we hoped would never be a part of our lives. On July 3rd, Catharine was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, breast cancer, that has spread to her lymph nodes. Catharine is a middle school band teacher who has a passion for teaching and loves her students fiercely, and is one of the kindest people to know. To her sisters, she is not only a sibling, but also a best friend. To friends, she is an encourager, listener, and confidant. To her husband, she is his whole world and right now their life together has turned upside down. We believe that we can help her fight against breast cancer.

Cancer is expensive - even with health insurance. Fortunately, Catharine has health insurance. Unfortunately, a new policy will start September 1, so she has TWO out of pocket maximums to meet before 100% coverage is reached. Tentative course of treatment includes 18 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by surgery and radiation before reconstructive surgery. The entirety of funds raised, $15,050, will go towards assisting with out of pocket costs to help cover medical expenses.
