Project Shelter: A Hurricane Dorian Relief Effort
Tax deductible
On the afternoon of September 1, 2019 Hurricane Dorian made landfall on the island of Abaco in The Bahamas as a record breaking Category 5 storm. After wreaking havoc over Abaco with winds in excess of 185 mph, the storm tracked west towards the island of Grand Bahama. Hurricane Dorian continued to make history as it came to a complete halt over the island of Grand Bahama and continued to unleash its wrath for nearly two days before finally moving north.
The impact Hurricane Dorian left behind in The Bahamas has been complete devastation. Thousands have been left without homes and the number of lives lost continues to increase daily. Disasters of this magnitude impact us all, and we here at the International Youth Education & Sports (iYES) Foundation in Springdale, Ark. want to ask you to come alongside us as we do our part to assist individuals who have lost their homes. We are teaming up with our Bahamian arm, iYES-Bahamas, Compass Church out of Cincinnati, and Golden Gates Church in Nassau Bahamas to help three families that have been displaced and need shelter. The cost to assist each family will be $4,000, which will cover finding and securing temporary housing for a period of six months, while the family works to get back on their feet.
All funds collected will go directly towards our "Project Shelter" relief efforts in The Bahamas. We will be transparent and continue to communicate with our donors during this process. We hope you will consider joining us by making a donation to help us eliminate this immediate burden from those affected. For more information on iYES, please visit www.iyesfoundation.org.
