Project Trust Asia Gap Year
Spende geschützt
Hi my name is Nathan I am fundraising to have the opportunity to go to another country to teach English to disadvantaged children. I have decided to do this instead of going to university in order to travel and gain some valuable life experience before I take my next step in my life journey. I am going to be volunteering at a school in China teaching English to the children of the school, providing them with a foundation of English and developing their understanding. By doing this I am providing the children with opportunities to further their education opening up future life opportunities outside their country of residence. By learning and being taught English it gives them an opportunity to communicate with a huge variety of people through the medium of English, and gives them access to jobs, education and careers outside of China. I am volunteering with a charitable organisation, Project Trust, which have over 50 years of experience of providing volunteering opportunities for 17–25-year-olds. They work alongside communities to help and educate through their volunteers, and the volunteers that go out each year do not take up the jobs of the locals in the country/community but work along side them. My work/volunteering will be working with younger children, educating them and I am sure they will also be educating me!! I will be going out for a year working alongside teachers and students, teaching in timetabled lessons that I will have to structure and plan myself. The cost for my gap year is £7,500, I have already accumulated close to £2500 myself. I will be undertaking a challenging sponsored walk, holding car boot sales alongside other fundraising events. I would be very grateful for any donation, no matter how small, towards my gap year opportunity.
