Project Wayne's World

On November 29th of 2017, Mr. Carl Wayne was jogging per usual on the public Busch Wildlife trails near Francis Howell High School. Mr. Wayne, who has taught U.S. History, American Government, and Modern American Culture at Howell, is well known around school for his sarcastic, hilarious, and good willed personality. However, while on his normal exercise routine, Mr. Wayne was attacked. He was shot from behind, but managed to make it back to Howell where he received help before emergency responders arrived. Doctors treated Mr. Wayne’s wounds, and he returned to his home that night for rest. The suspected perpetrator has since been caught.

Despite the criminal’s arrest, Mr. Wayne’s story is not over. A long road to recovery and a return to normalcy is ahead, but we at Francis Howell would like to accelerate that path. As the holiday season approaches, we want to give back to Mr. Wayne. From teaching us citizenship to boosting our spirits, Mr. Wayne devotes himself every day towards his students. He even reported that after he was shot that the safety of the students nearby trumped his own personal well being. For that generosity, we’re trying to raise as much money as possible in order to buy Mr. Wayne seasonal gifts or help pay for the expenses of this incident. He’s given his heart to us, and we’d like to return his kindness and care. Though a set goal will be in place, any donation will be appreciated.
