Project.3580 The Laurence Chinn-Brown Classroom

Laurence had just gained a first- class honours degree in Law at Keele University and was about to spend a year studying International Law in Madrid when he suddenly died of a brain haemorrhage aged just 22 years old.
Laurence was a keen cricketer and played for the university team and since his passing, Keele Cricket Club have been playing memorial matches against Bretforton Cricket Club to raise money for charity.
This year the game will be a T20 match to be played at Bretforton on Sunday 26th May, starting at 1pm. All monies raised will be donated to Project.3580, an organisation founded by Neil Morland, a teacher at Chipping Campden High School, where Laurence was a former pupil.
Project.3580 was set up by Neil following a visit to a refugee camp in Sierra Leone, 15 years ago.
That year 3,580 children aged under 10 died in the camp from malaria. Neil was deeply moved by the plight of these young children and set about doing something to help. To date over £250,000 has been raised which has provided 4,000 mosquito nets, built 16 classroom blocks, a small clinic and a church as well as toilets and 2 wells for clean water.
The improvements to the living conditions brought about by Project.3580 mean that now child mortality has fallen to just over 300 a year but still more needs to be done.
Through the support of Go Fund Me and monies raised from the cricket match, we are aiming to raise as much money as possible which will help the building of two further primary schools as well as re-furbishing an existing one which will become known as Laurence’s Classroom.
We know Laurence would have been so proud to have been associated with such a brilliant organisation and are hoping to raise as much as we can in memory of our precious Laurence so as his passing will not be in vain.
