Promote inclusion and diversity in STEM education

Hi! My name is Vicky :)
I am a scientist who has realized how messed up the science environment is, and I want to change it! Will you help me?
Let's be honest here: the science research environment is neither inclusive nor accessible or diverse.
When asking kids belonging to minority communities if they would ever think they could become scientists, the most common answer would be “No.” The reason is apparent: no role models or people they feel identified with are at the high end of the scientific research environment. Statistics from 2017-2019 show that BIPOC people represent less than 10% in all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) fields (USA), even fewer BIPOC women, and significantly fewer disabled people. How can children from different minorities feel they belong in this environment if they have no one to look up to?
I want to change this, and I am sure you do too! This is why this project is so important!
I am fundraising this money to be able to pay the professionals who will help me produce this first STEM book for children.
What makes my book different?
BIPOC children will be the protagonists and only characters in this book. I want BIPOC children to see themselves represented accurately and truthfully, so they can imagine being a scientist someday. Making science accessible and inclusive allows children to see themselves as essential characters and potential role models in STEM environments.
I can't wait for you to join me in this journey of changing the world little by little.
Thank you! :)
