Proper Homegoing for Kendell

Donation protected
Kendell's battle started in April 2014 when he was abruptly diagnosed with end stage renal failure and high blood pressure. Over the last three years he has been fighting for his life and had to deal with many hospital stays. On Friday, April 28th, Kendell went to the hospital becsuse he wasn't feeling well and it turned out to be his last stay.

Over the course of six days in the hospital, Kendell's health diminished rapidly. He went from talking and being alert, to being incoherent, to finally being unable to speak or open his eyes. He got a 30 minute visit from his 5 year old princess Brielle on Friday before being moved to CCU, not knowing that would be the last time they saw each other normally. Doctors informed the family Saturday that Kendell had a major infection and abscess on his aortic valve of his heart that was also leaking blood, and he would need major heart surgery to survive. He also had pneumonia and fluid on his lungs. Fast forward to Monday, we were told that an MRI revealed he had three strokes and was now bleeding on the brain and he would possibly need brain surgery along with heart surgery. The doctors also advised it would be a good chance that he would be blind and have paralysis on the left side of his body. Tuesday, a procedure was done to see how damaged his heart was. The infection was spreading to another valve and the tissue surrounding. His heart was falling apart. Heart surgery locally was no longer an option, and no major hospitals would accept him for surgery.

Kendell's nurse got permission for his daughter, the love of his life Brielle, to visit him for 15 minutes on Tuesday evening, due to his declining health. Although he was not responsive, Brielle was happy to see her daddy. She read him a book, cared for him, and loved on him during her last visit, telling him she loved him and asking him to wake up as she kissed him goodbye. He was able to move his right arm and hand as a response.

After the visit from his daughter, Kendell mouthed her name, opened his eyes later that evening, and moved the left side of his body which he hadn't moved in days.

Wednesday afternoon, May 3rd, around 4pm, just two months after his daughter's birthday, we were told that further examination revealed that Kendell had approximately 15-20 additional strokes that they did not catch and there would be no way he could recover and he was not a candidate for surgery. There was nothing else they could do and gave him 2-3 days to live.

Not even 2 hours later, at the young tender age of 37, as his daughter waited downstairs to see her daddy again, Kendell took his last breath as two of his sisters and the mother of his child stood by his side, held his hand, and comforted him. Another life gone to soon and a daughter without a father. After being informed of her father's death, all Brielle wanted was to see her daddy again. Kendell and Brielle had a bond like no other and while he did everything he could to be active with her and create memories, she was always his personal nurse when he was sick, up until the day he passed. He lived for her and would want nothing but to know she good.

During this difficult time, the family is asking for any donations so that we can ensure he is laid to rest properly, to pay any lingering expenses, and to help care for a five year old little girl who has lost her best friend, as he had no life insurance. Anything will help and will be greatly appreciated.

God bless!
