Proper Memorial for Ka Ying Xiong

This is Ka Ying Xiong, born May 16, 1998. She loved to hang with her friends, do make up tutorials, and loved her family. The baby of the family as she is the youngest of all our siblings. On September 23rd, 2023 at 5:00pm, we received horrible news about Ka Ying. She was found unresponsive on the sidewalk near her home in Minnesota. A good Samaritan had called 911. She had been rushed to the nearest hospital and after searching through her belongings, contact was made to us, her family. We all live out of state but rushed there as soon as we could. Upon arrival, the doctors had given us their prognosis. Ka Ying had extensive brain swelling and they had to relieve the pressure. She was put on life support at this time. A day had past and she was not awake. She was not responding to verbal or physical stimuli. Another day past, and we received the worst news that her brain showed no activity. She is on full life support at this point. We had the discussion no one wants to have with a doctor. The future of Ka Ying. Fast forward to today, October 6, and after the most difficult of decisions, our family has come to the realization that we have to let Ka Ying go. Two plus weeks and no improvement in her brain activity. She is legally brain dead according to the doctors. I have never seen our mom cry so hard.

As this is an ongoing investigation in MN, there is little information that is being relayed to our family. We are at a lost. Ka Ying was dealt a rough hand in life but she always made the best of it and always had a smile on her face to brighten up the room. This is our baby sister, our moms baby girl, that did not deserve any of this. Karma will come around. This is such a horrific and unexpected event in our lives that we were not prepared for.
